Hi! I’m Amanda Clawson, a mom of three wonderful kids who loves baking and reading books in my spare time (about 100 books a year!). My family loves being part of this community, and we plan on being here for decades. That’s why I’m running for Lake Mountain School Board – because I want to help build a district that will serve our children and community well into the future.

I’ve worked as a reading aide at Vista Elementary in Granite School District and as an after-school program leader at Newman Elementary for Salt Lake City School District. I’ve also served as a crossing guard, helping students safely navigate high-traffic areas. My PTA involvement spans nine years across three schools and two districts. I’ve served as Vice President at Orchard Elementary, Room Mom Coordinator and Choir Secretary at Springside Elementary, Reflections Chair, and currently serve as Community Council Chair. I was honored to receive the Volunteer of the Year award for 2024-2025, which reflects my dedication to supporting our schools through hands-on involvement and problem-solving.

Beyond the classroom, I serve our community as a licensed EMT, certified CPR instructor, and trained member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). During the pandemic, I created Formula Shortage Utah, which helped mothers connect to find formula during the supply crisis.

I’m passionate about education in our community. I’ve seen the challenges, opportunities, and growth, as well as the needs and struggles that students, parents, teachers, and administrators face.

My Priorities

  • Addressing overcrowding
  • Retaining our amazing teachers and staff by ensuring they feel valued and have the resources they need
  • Encouraging parent and community involvement at both school and district levels
  • Building strong special education programs
  • Ensuring fiscal responsibility while meeting our growth needs

This district change will take a lot of work to build and reconfigure. We need school board members who are heavily involved in the community and want the best for our kids. I’m ready to dedicate my time, effort, and love to getting this new district established. We have a unique opportunity to build Lake Mountain District from the ground up in a way that will benefit our kids and community for decades!
